DC Theatre Interviews

With Hosts Elizabeth Bruce and Michael Oliver

Over the last three years, we’ve had the pleasure of interviewing so many talented and important DC theatre professionals: from Molly Smith and Joy Zinoman to Clayton LeBouef, Ari Roth, and Quique Aviles, and many other seminal theatremakers in Washington, DC, from 1970 to @2019.

We’ve listened to details about the fascinating struggles of such theatre artists as Arena Stage co-founder Zelda Fichandler, New Playwrights Theatre founder Harry Bagdasian, Source Theatre founder Bart Whitman, and Catholic University Theatre leader Father Gilbert V. Hartke.

Some of the research for these interviews was drawn from "National Theatre or Public Theatre: The Theatrical Geography of Washington, DC, circa 1970 to 1990," the University of Maryland doctoral dissertation by Robert Michael Oliver. Here.
