Today, we proudly present Part 1 of our conversation with Kimberly C. Gaines, the Executive Director of the East of the River Steelband.
The East of the River Steelband in Washington, DC., is a music education, youth development, and cultural exploration non-profit serving youth ages seven and up in D. C.'s wards 7 and 8.
Kimberly is also a visual artist, producer, and former radio host for Sophie's Parlor and an arts management professional passionate about the community. Her footing in the arts began with Camilla Forbes’s Hip Hop Theatre Junction, where she served as a designer and in public relations.
