Welcome to Season 5 of Creativists in Dialogue: Across Generations - an exploration of history’s influence on creativity and innovation.
Our guest today is an old friend and native Washingtonian, Carlos Fernando Lemos. He is an artisanal carpenter and wood sculptor - and a native Washingtonian.
And most importantly, he is an adventurer, experiencing the world in his unique way.
Born in the Petworth neighborhood, Carlos grew up in DC’s Adams Morgan neighborhood. He built his expertise in the construction trades and home remodeling. In his early twenties, he worked on construction crews and moonlighted as a handyman. He spent two years in the YouthBuild training program in Columbia Heights, and subsequently ran his own small contracting company for several years.
He later bought a small apartment building and does his own maintenance. He has since transitioned away from home improvement contracting to focus on custom carpentry and cabinet building.
